Signalbash - About

Signalbash is a free time-tracking application that allows you to see how long you've been working in your DAW or NLE Software (Digital Audio Workstation/Non Linear Editor).

Signalbash consists of two components: The Signalbash Plugin & The Signalbash Web App.

Features

You can track your activity by downloading the Signalbash Plugin and placing it on the master track of your session. As you work on your music, the plugin will detect and time how long audio is playing through your master channel. This value is accumulated and periodically sent to your profile.

The Signalbash Web App is where you can view all this activity. Your personal profile will have a private chart of your activity over the past 24 hours, as well as a daily heatmap showing the amount of time per day you've spent actively working on audio production in your DAW.

Signalbash also acts as a sort of game. The Signalbash Leaderboard features all other artists & audio professionals active in the past 24 hours, sorting everyone by how long they've been working within this period.

You can customize your how your profile is displayed by adding a profile image, links to your socials/streaming sites, and more. You can use this as an avenue to connect with other artists, or simply as an way to promote yourself as you work between releases.

What's the Point?

Music & Audio is a creative avenue where your work is largely judged against the final product. But the entire creative process leading up to that point is hidden away, making it go largely unrecognized and overlooked. The journey in the act of creation, not as a means to an end, but in the act itself, only gets fully appreciated by those involved within it. Ideas are discarded, some projects are never quite finished, and practice and experimentation get filed away never to see the light of day.

Signalbash is a way to recognize and appreciate that process, along with all the hours that go into it.

How to get started

To start, create a free signalbash account. You do need an email address to do so. Then, download & install the Signalbash plugin, and place it on your master channel.

Go to your Signalbash account and copy your "Session Key." This is how the plugin knows that your activity belongs to you. Once you enter your session key, the plugin will begin detecting audible audio signals.

Now, every time you want to track the time spent on a session, simply place the plugin on the master channel, and your activity will acccumulate in your account.
